Dial-A-Ride Service to be Absorbed by County: The Southwest Dial-A-Ride service is being absorbed by the larger Will County Dial-A-Ride service, which is offered through PACE. Township officials expressed hope that the consolidation will make the process of scheduling transportation services easier and more efficient for residents.
Property Tax Exemption Event Scheduled: The Will County Supervisor of Assessments Office will host an event to help residents apply for property tax exemptions on Monday, May 19, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Township Community Hall. Highway Department Seeks Tar and Chip Bids: A bid notice for the highway department’s annual tar and chip road maintenance program has been published in the Peotone Vedette. The deadline for bid submission is March 21. The bids will be publicly opened at 5:00 p.m. on March 24 at the Road District Office. Progress is also continuing on the department’s new truck, for which the chassis has been delivered.
Township Investigates Unpermitted Storage Containers: The board is looking into large storage containers placed on a property at the corner of Rte. 52 and Cedar Road. Officials are not aware if a permit was issued for the containers by Will County. Clerk Kelly Baltas will file a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request with the county to determine if the proper steps were taken by the property owner.
Annual Town Meeting Preparations Finalized: The board unanimously approved the minutes and financial statement for the 2024 Annual Town Meeting. The approval was straightforward as there was no need to transfer funds between township accounts this year.
