Speed Limits Reduced on Two Township Roads
June 3, 2025/
The committee approved new speed zones for two township roads based on engineering studies showing current limits exceed safe driving speeds.
Offner Road in Green Garden Township will have a new 45 mph speed limit between Center Road and 88th Avenue, covering one mile. The engineering study found 85% of drivers travel at or below 49 mph on the rural road.
Scheer Road in Manhattan Township will be posted at 50 mph from Delaney Road to Stuenkel Road, covering 1.06 miles. Traffic studies showed 85% of drivers travel at or below 51 mph in the area.
Both speed zones were requested by the respective township road districts and will take effect once new signage is installed in accordance with state traffic control standards.
