MANHATTAN, IL – A Manhattan man was taken into custody on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, and charged with six felony counts of possessing child pornography, according to the Manhattan Police Department.
Jacob J. Jarvis, 25, of the 500 block of W. North Street, was arrested following an investigation that began more than a year ago. In a statement, police said the case originated in September 2024 when Manhattan Police Officers assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force received information from the Hastings, Nebraska Police Department. The tip concerned a Manhattan resident who was allegedly downloading child pornography using an online mobile application.
During the subsequent investigation, authorities identified Jarvis as the suspect.
With assistance from the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office, the Manhattan Police Department executed a search warrant at Jarvis’s residence in August 2025. Police reported that they took possession of an electronic device belonging to Jarvis which contained evidence of the offense.
Jarvis was charged with six counts of Child Pornography, each classified as a Class 2 Felony. He was transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility to await a pre-trial detention hearing.
