Jackson Township Board Meeting | October 2025
The Jackson Township Board met on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, to handle standard monthly business, including the approval of financial donations to three community organizations. The meeting, attended by Supervisor Matt Robbins and Trustees Jake Fanning, Norm Fanning, Michele Hallihan, and Coley O’Connell, also saw the approval of the previous month’s minutes and the payment of township bills.
Trustee O’Connell departed the meeting at 7:12 p.m., prior to the final votes on township expenditures. The Board approved the Road and Bridge bills and Town Fund bills with the remaining trustees voting in favor. The meeting adjourned at 7:18 p.m.
Community Donations:
The Board approved three separate donations of $500 each to local organizations. Motions were passed to support the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Squad, the Elwood Beautification Group, and Lightways Hospice. All three donations were approved by unanimous roll call votes.
Cemetery Concerns:
During Trustee Comments, Trustee Norm Fanning reported receiving feedback from a resident regarding the condition of Maple Hill Cemetery. The resident expressed concerns that issues persist at the site. Fanning inquired about who was currently responsible for cutting the grass at the cemetery.
Levy Preparation:
Township Attorney John Gallo informed the Board that he is in the process of preparing figures and spreadsheets regarding the township levy. These financial documents are expected to be ready for discussion at the next meeting.
Assessor’s Report:
The Assessor reported that the first hearing for a residential property appeal was scheduled for Thursday, October 9. Additionally, the county is continuing to work with the Assessor and CenterPoint on two remaining appeals, which are scheduled to be heard in November.
