Manhattan Township Board Meeting | Oct. 14, 2025
The Manhattan Township Board met on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, to handle standard monthly business, approve minutes from four prior meetings, and accept a state grant. The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Jim Walsh at 7:00 p.m.
Present at the meeting were Supervisor Walsh, Clerk Kelly Baltas, Highway Commissioner Jim Baltas, and Trustees Paul Woodcock, Bill McGrath, and Eileen Fitzer. Trustee Mark Yunker was absent. Assessor Joe Oldani participated via phone.
The Board voted unanimously to approve the minutes for the August 19, September 23, and October 1 Special Call meetings, as well as the September 9 Regular Board meeting. The meeting adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
DCEO Grant Award:
Clerk Baltas reported movement on a Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) grant totaling $30,000. The Township has electronically accepted the Notification of Award from the State of Illinois. As of the meeting, no further instructions had been provided by the grant manager.
Assessor’s Appeals Report:
During the Assessor Report, Joe Oldani informed the Board that Manhattan Township had 43 formal appeals this year. Additionally, 50 to 60 appeals were settled directly in the office.
Financial Approvals:
The Board voted unanimously to accept the expense reports presented by the Supervisor, Highway Commissioner, and Assessor. All bills were approved for payment.
