Article Summary: Village staff and officials provided updates on several key local projects during Tuesday’s meeting, including a new 31-lot housing development and progress on the Well 7 rehabilitation. The Police Chief also addressed a search warrant executed earlier that day, assuring residents there was no threat to the public.

Village of Manhattan Key Points:

  • Housing Growth: A developer is finalizing engineering for 31 single-family lots adjacent to Prairie Villas, with a final plat expected for review this month.

  • Police Activity: Police executed a search warrant on Arrowhead Drive; the Chief emphasized it was an isolated incident with no threat to the community.

  • Infrastructure: Drywall work is nearly complete at the Well 7 facility, and three water main breaks were repaired over the holidays.

The Manhattan Village Board received multiple reports on the status of village infrastructure and safety during its meeting on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.

Regarding residential growth, a village representative reported that the developer responsible for the property next to Prairie Villas is nearing the completion of engineering work for 31 single-family lots. The developer is expected to submit the final plat for approval later this month.

In public safety news, Police Chief Jeff Wold addressed a police presence that residents may have noticed earlier in the day.

“We just executed a search warrant a few minutes ago in the 24400 block of Arrowhead Drive,” Chief Wold told the board. While he could not discuss specific details, he stated the action was taken to keep children and adults safe. “It’s a very isolated incident… there’s no threat to the neighboring areas.”

Superintendent of Public Works John Tyk provided an update on the village’s water infrastructure. Work on Well 7 is progressing, with drywall nearly complete inside the building and a vessel expected to arrive in early to mid-February. Tyk also noted that Public Works crews were busy over the holidays repairing three water main breaks and managing snow and ice control.

Trustee Robert Dilling requested an update on the Eastern Avenue road project. Village staff indicated that the start date depends on when local asphalt plants reopen for the season, with weekly communications ongoing regarding the schedule.
