Public Works & Transportation Committee Meeting | February 3, 2026

The Will County Public Works and Transportation Committee met on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, to approve various infrastructure investments and hear reports on transit services. In addition to a major presentation on the expansion of the Access Will County Dial-a-Ride system and the approval of engineering for Wilmington-Peotone Road, the committee authorized several maintenance contracts and intergovernmental agreements.

Vice-Chair Mark Revis (District 8) noted the scale of the investment during the meeting. “In this meeting alone, we spent $6.1 million on our various transportation projects,” Revis said, emphasizing the importance of due diligence in representing taxpayers.

News Briefs:

License Plate Camera Agreement Postponed:
The committee voted to postpone the authorization of an intergovernmental agreement between the Illinois State Police and Will County for the placement of license plate reading cameras. The item was delayed because representatives from the State Police arrived late to the meeting. Previous discussions had raised questions regarding data retention and privacy.

Lockport Traffic Signal Agreement:
The committee approved an intergovernmental agreement with the City of Lockport regarding the intersection of Briggs Street and Oak Avenue. The agreement outlines future potential for a traffic signal tied to the “Serenity Landing” development. Director of Transportation Jeff Ronaldson noted a signal is not currently warranted, but the developer will be required to perform studies after each phase of construction. If a signal becomes warranted, the city and developer would be responsible for installation.

Romeoville Landscaping Approved:
An agreement was authorized permitting the Village of Romeoville to install and maintain landscaping at the northwest corner of Weber Road and North Carillon Drive. The village will be solely responsible for the maintenance of the improvements.

Frankfort Signal Maintenance:
The committee advanced an agreement with the Village of Frankfort for the maintenance and energy costs of four traffic signals along Laraway Road. The agreement covers intersections at 116th Avenue, Wolf Road, Center Road, and 80th Avenue, facilitating upgrades to Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS).

Countywide Striping Contract:
A contract for countywide pavement striping was awarded to Preform Traffic Control Systems, Ltd. The contract is valued at approximately $1.24 million. A corresponding resolution appropriating Motor Fuel Tax funds for the project was also approved.

Traffic Signal Upgrades:
Van-Mack Electric was awarded a $1.48 million contract for traffic signal upgrades on various county highways. The project covers multiple districts and includes upgrades to signal cabinets and the installation of fiber optic corridors to enable better communication between signals.
