Jackson Township Board Meeting | January 14, 2026

The Jackson Township Board of Trustees met for its regular monthly meeting on January 14, 2026, at the Jackson Township Hall. Supervisor Matt Robbins called the meeting to order at 6:31 p.m. Trustees Jake Fanning, Norm Fanning, and Michele Hallihan were present, alongside Clerk Kathryn Hunt, Assessor LeGrett, Highway Commissioner Walsh, and Attorney John Gallo. Trustee Coley O’Connell was absent. The board advanced a light agenda, approving a youth sports donation, reviewing future property enhancements under the capital plan, and discussing regional road closures. The meeting adjourned at 7:23 p.m.

Brief Title: Senior Freeze Income Limits Rise
During the Assessor’s Report, Assessor LeGrett reported that the senior freeze income limit recently went up by about $10,000. She noted this increase will “result in more people qualifying for this benefit” and expects the cap to increase incrementally in the coming years. The Assessor’s Office has already received several calls regarding the change. LeGrett stated she will receive the official 2025 numbers from the county next week.

Brief Title: Potential Pig Farm Development
During the Trustee Comments portion of the meeting, Trustee Norm Fanning asked for an update regarding a local “pig farm and what they wanted to do on that property.” Supervisor Matt Robbins responded that once the property owners have a “concrete plan,” the township could arrange a meeting with planning and zoning officials to review it.

Brief Title: Assessor’s Budget Review
Assessor LeGrett briefly reviewed her department’s budget changes with the board. She stated that the Assessor’s Office would like to allocate funds to purchase new computers and to attend professional development training. No formal vote was taken on the budget changes during the meeting.

Brief Title: Routine Financial Approvals and Scholarship Announcement
The board handled several routine financial and administrative matters. Trustees Norm Fanning and Jake Fanning motioned to approve the December 2025 minutes and the monthly financial statement, which both passed 3-0. The board also unanimously approved the Road and Bridge bills and the Town Fund bills. Additionally, Supervisor Robbins announced that he has received an application for the Township Officials of Illinois (TOI) Scholarship, which is available for graduating high school seniors, and asked anyone interested to reach out.
