Article Summary: The Will County Division of Transportation is inviting residents to a public open house on March 19 to review existing conditions and provide feedback on potential roadway alternatives for a two-mile stretch of Manhattan-Monee Road.

Manhattan-Monee Road Study Key Points:

  • The public meeting will take place Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Peotone Intermediate Center in Frankfort.

  • The project focuses on potential roadway alternatives for the segment of Manhattan-Monee Road from US Route 45 to Center Road.

  • Project materials will be available on the study’s dedicated website by the day of the meeting.

The Will County Public Works and Transportation Committee on Tuesday, March 3, formally announced the first public open house regarding the future of the Manhattan-Monee Road corridor.

The Will County Division of Transportation (WCDOT) will host the meeting on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Peotone Intermediate Center, located at 9526 W. Manhattan-Monee Road in Frankfort.

The informational session (Item #26-4314) is designed to provide residents with an overview of the project and its schedule, review the existing conditions of the corridor, and present initial roadway alternatives for public feedback.

“This will be our first public meeting for this two-mile segment between [US Route] 45 and Will Center,” said Will County Director of Transportation Jeff Ronaldson, addressing the committee. “If anyone is interested, they can join us on that date. The materials will be on the website, I believe, probably the day before or day of.”

Exhibits will be on display throughout the open house, and project team members will be present to discuss the study and answer specific questions from attendees.

Residents who cannot attend the open house or who wish to submit correspondence directly to the county can view the project materials and submit feedback through the dedicated project website at www.manhattan-monee-study.com.

Written correspondence can also be mailed to the Will County Division of Transportation (16841 W. Laraway Road, Joliet, IL 60433) to the attention of Christina Kupkowski.
