Coalition calls for more action on data centers

The Illinois Clean Jobs Coalition says more action is needed from the Illinois Commerce Commission and the General Assembly to protect the state from data center impacts.

Last Thursday, the ICC approved with modifications ComEd’s proposed changes for how it handles data centers in its territory and ordered a follow-up proceeding to address the reliability, affordability and policy risks that remain.

The coalition said in a statement that the challenges posed by data centers extend beyond a single utility’s territory.

AG Day in Springfield

Gov. J.B. Pritzker and lawmakers welcomed more than 50 farm groups to the Capitol on Tuesday.

State officials blamed federal policies for rising costs hitting Illinois producers.

At the event, state Rep. Charles Meier, R-Okawville, called for higher estate‑tax exemptions to help family farms. Pritzker said he’d sign a bill if lawmakers pass one, but it’s not a priority for him.
