The Lincoln-Way West varsity softball team used a steady, relentless offensive attack to defeat Paducah Tilghman (KY) 11-2 in neutral-site tournament action on Saturday afternoon. Competing in the Boarder Wars tournament, the Warriors quickly erased an early deficit and steadily pulled away in the late innings to secure a convincing victory.

Paducah Tilghman struck first in the opening frame, scratching across a single run in the top of the first inning to take a brief 1-0 lead. However, Lincoln-Way West immediately responded in the bottom half of the inning, mounting a three-run rally to claim a 3-1 advantage they would never relinquish.

After a pair of scoreless innings settled the game into a rhythm, the Warriors’ offense reignited in the middle frames. Lincoln-Way West manufactured a single run in the fourth inning and added another in the fifth, extending their lead to 5-1 while their pitching staff kept the Paducah Tilghman lineup in check.

In the late innings, the Warriors broke the game wide open. Lincoln-Way West plated three runs in the bottom of the sixth to build a commanding 8-1 cushion. Paducah Tilghman managed to push across a final run in the top of the seventh to cut into the deficit, but the Warriors answered with three final runs in the bottom half to cap off the 11-2 victory.

With the decisive tournament win, Lincoln-Way West improves its impressive overall record to 8-3 on the season, continuing to build momentum against out-of-state competition.
