Lincoln-Way West Blanks Rival Lincoln-Way Central 10-0 in WJOL Tournament
The Lincoln-Way West varsity softball team continued its dominant spring on Wednesday evening, rolling to a 10-0 shutout victory over cross-town rival Lincoln-Way Central. Competing in the WJOL Tournament, the high-powered Warriors overpowered their hosts from start to finish to secure a convincing tournament win.
Entering the contest as one of the top-ranked teams in the state, Lincoln-Way West’s explosive offense was on full display. The Warriors, who are averaging over 10 runs per game this season, hit their mark exactly against the Knights, generating run support early and often while their pitching staff kept the Lincoln-Way Central lineup completely off the board.
For Lincoln-Way Central, the shutout loss drops their overall record to 2-6 on the year. Despite solid early-season performances from players like Audrey Hennings and Jenna Lee, the Knights simply could not match the sheer firepower of the Warriors on Wednesday night.
Meanwhile, Lincoln-Way West improves to an impressive 8-3 overall, building crucial momentum against a familiar opponent as they navigate a challenging tournament schedule.
Wednesday’s matchup served as a tantalizing preview of what is to come between the two New Lenox programs. The Warriors and Knights are scheduled to clash twice more during the regular season, with a pair of highly anticipated conference matchups set for April 10 and May 1. Until then, Lincoln-Way West claims the early bragging rights.
