The Lincoln-Way West varsity softball team delivered a dominant offensive performance to capture the WJOL Tournament Championship, routing host Lockport 11-1 in the title game on Thursday afternoon at Inwood.

Lincoln-Way West flexed its offensive muscle early and often, showcasing the firepower that has propelled them to a 10-3 overall record. The visitors struck immediately, plating two runs in the top of the first inning to take control.

Lockport answered in the bottom of the second, pushing a single run across the plate to cut the deficit to 2-1. However, that proved to be the extent of the hosts’ offensive production for the afternoon, as the Lincoln-Way West pitching staff slammed the door and tossed four consecutive scoreless frames to close out the game.

With the defense locked in, the Lincoln-Way West bats went back to work. They extended their lead with a two-run surge in the third inning before breaking the game wide open in the late frames. A three-run fifth inning stretched the advantage to 7-1, and a four-run explosion in the top of the sixth put the game out of reach, triggering the run rule to end the contest and secure the championship trophy.

The victory keeps Lincoln-Way West undefeated on the road (6-0) and drops Lockport to 7-3 overall. The two conference rivals are scheduled to clash again on April 20 when Lincoln-Way West returns to Lockport.

Detailed box score statistics, including hits, errors, and individual player data, were not provided for this tournament contest.
