Lincoln-Way West Edges Homewood-Flossmoor 5-4 in Tight Conference Clash
The Lincoln-Way West varsity softball team successfully navigated a tight conference battle on Monday afternoon, edging out visiting Homewood-Flossmoor for a 5-4 home victory.
In a closely contested matchup that tested both dugouts from the first pitch to the last, Lincoln-Way West found a way to secure the narrow one-run win to open their conference slate on a high note. The victory improves Lincoln-Way West’s impressive overall record to 10-3 and moves them to 1-0 in league play.
Homewood-Flossmoor drops to 5-3 overall and 0-1 in the conference following the hard-fought road loss. Entering the game averaging 7.6 runs per contest, the Homewood-Flossmoor offense was held slightly in check by the Lincoln-Way West pitching staff, which did just enough to preserve the win.
Although specific inning-by-inning scoring and individual statistics were not reported, the 5-4 final score highlights a competitive, back-and-forth battle between the two conference rivals. The teams will not have to wait long to see each other again, as Lincoln-Way West is scheduled to travel to Homewood-Flossmoor for a rematch on April 27.
