Lincoln-Way West Powers Past Cross-Town Rival Lincoln-Way Central in 11-1 Run-Rule Victory
The Lincoln-Way West varsity softball team utilized a potent, power-heavy offensive attack and flawless defense to defeat visiting Lincoln-Way Central 11-1 in a five-inning conference matchup on Thursday afternoon.
Despite falling behind 1-0 in the top of the second inning, Lincoln-Way West immediately answered and never looked back. The home team erupted for three runs in the bottom of the second, added two in the third, and broke the game wide open with a four-run fourth inning. They capped the afternoon with a pair of runs in the fifth to secure the run-rule victory.
Though individual statistics for Lincoln-Way West were not reported, the team’s collective dominance at the plate was evident. The lineup produced nine total hits and punished Lincoln-Way Central pitching with three home runs.
