The Lincoln-Way West boys track and field team delivered a statement performance on Saturday, April 18, 2026, capturing second place in a loaded 15-team field at the Bud Mohns-Bob Cohoon Invitational hosted by Downers Grove South. The Warriors amassed 82 team points to comfortably hold off third-place Elmhurst York (80 points), while Roselle Lake Park took home the team title with 122 points.

Senior Anthony Lusciatti was the undeniable catalyst for the Warriors, putting on an absolute clinic in the long sprints. Lusciatti swept his individual events with a pair of brilliant personal-best performances. He captured the 200-meter dash in a blazing 22.49 seconds, narrowly holding off York’s Justin Cello (22.57). Later in the afternoon, Lusciatti dominated the 400-meter dash, breaking the tape in 49.19 to win the event by more than a full second.

Junior Hunter Spee added another individual track title for Lincoln-Way West, controlling the pace in the 800-meter run. Spee crossed the finish line in a personal-best 1:56.00, keeping Bolingbrook’s Jason Vervack safely in his rearview mirror to secure the victory.

Out in the field, the Warriors utilized exceptional depth in the throws to pile up critical team points. Senior Reilly Kliros launched a personal-best toss of 15.84 meters to claim third place in the varsity shot put, and sophomore teammate Broden Newman was right on his heels, taking fourth with a personal-best 15.73-meter heave. Sophomore Benjamin DeMaertelaere added a fourth-place finish in the discus with a throw of 42.35 meters.

Sophomore John Kinsella proved to be a versatile weapon for Lincoln-Way West across both levels of competition. Competing against the varsity field in the high jump, Kinsella cleared 1.90 meters to secure an impressive third-place finish. He then dropped down to the Frosh/Soph division to capture the pole vault title with a personal-best clearance of 3.96 meters.

The Warriors also showcased their relay strength to cap the scoring. The 4×100-meter relay quartet of Brandon Wolf, Chase Markowicz, Michael Kennedy, and Jahan Abubakar combined for a swift 43.59 seconds to take fourth place. The 4×400-meter squad—featuring Spee, Nick Skala, TaRyan Culbert, and Lusciatti—closed out the meet with a fifth-place finish in 3:31.53.

In the Frosh/Soph ranks, freshman Benjamin Singleton turned heads in the hurdles. Singleton raced to a second-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 44.86, and he added a fourth-place showing in the 110-meter hurdles (18.33). Sophomore Nick Skala also grabbed a silver medal, placing second in the Frosh/Soph 400-meter dash with a time of 55.19. The underclassmen squad compiled 55 points to finish sixth overall in their division.
