The Lincoln-Way West varsity softball team continued its stellar season on Thursday afternoon, holding off a tough Sandburg squad to earn an 8-6 conference victory at home.

In a matchup that tested the highly ranked home team, Lincoln-Way West relied on its high-powered offense and late-game composure to secure the win. The victory improves Lincoln-Way West’s impressive overall record to 21-5 and bolsters their near-perfect conference mark to 11-1.

Sandburg, entering the contest with a 14-12 overall record and a 7-5 mark in conference play, proved to be a formidable opponent. The visitors pushed Lincoln-Way West throughout the afternoon, turning the game into a competitive shootout that challenged the home team’s defense. Despite the pressure, Lincoln-Way West successfully navigated the tight moments to close out the 8-6 triumph.

The victory adds another strong result to Lincoln-Way West’s resume, keeping them near the top of the state rankings as they look toward the postseason. The two programs are scheduled to meet again for a highly anticipated conference rematch on May 15 at Sandburg.
