Relying on a stifling pitching performance and timely late-game execution, the Lincoln-Way West varsity baseball team secured a gritty 4-2 non-conference road victory over Oak Forest on Saturday afternoon.

After two scoreless frames to open the contest, both teams traded pairs of runs in the third inning to knot the score at 2-2. The Warriors (25-26) eventually broke the deadlock in the top of the sixth inning with a crucial go-ahead run, followed by an insurance tally in the seventh to put the game out of reach. Despite recording only five hits and one official RBI on the afternoon, Lincoln-Way West capitalized on situational opportunities, aggressive baserunning, and two Oak Forest fielding errors to manufacture their four runs.

The story of the game was the Warriors’ exceptional work on the mound. The pitching duo of Owen Chudzinski and Adam Redmond combined to strike out 10 Oak Forest batters while refusing to allow a single earned run. Chudzinski earned the victory with a stellar outing, completely silencing the home team’s lineup over four scoreless innings. He surrendered just one hit, walked four, and racked up seven strikeouts.
