Lincoln-Way West Softball Blanks Andrew 10-0 in Conference Play
The Lincoln-Way West varsity softball team delivered a dominant performance on Wednesday evening, shutting out conference rival Andrew 10-0 on their home turf.
The victory completes a season sweep for Lincoln-Way West over Andrew. The two programs previously met on April 8, with Lincoln-Way West narrowly escaping with a 10-9 road win. In Wednesday’s rematch, however, the hosts left no doubt, utilizing a high-powered offense and stellar pitching to secure the lopsided shutout.
The win pushes Lincoln-Way West to a 21-5 overall record and a stellar 11-1 mark in conference play, keeping them firmly positioned among the state’s top-ranked teams. Andrew drops to 11-12 overall and 3-8 in conference action following the defeat.
Lincoln-Way West’s potent offense, which entered the contest averaging over nine runs per game, was on full display, providing more than enough support to keep the visitors off the scoreboard. The team will look to carry this momentum into their next conference matchup as the postseason approaches.
