Article Summary: The Will County Board authorized nearly $4.3 million in road improvement contracts, targeting key corridors including Francis Road, Renwick Road, and Laraway Road.

Infrastructure Key Points:

  • Austin Tyler Construction was awarded a $2,984,218.25 contract to rebuild and widen Francis Road.

  • P.T. Ferro Construction secured a $958,266.60 contract to resurface Renwick Road.

The Will County Board on Thursday, April 16, 2026, greenlit a slate of major infrastructure investments across the region, passing multiple resolutions on the consent agenda without opposition.

The largest expenditure was authorized by Resolution 26-113, which awarded a $2,984,218.25 contract to Austin Tyler Construction, Inc. The Elwood-based firm was the low bidder for a comprehensive project on Francis Road (County Highway 64) from Gougar Road to Wirt Road in County Board District 5. The scope of work includes roadway reconstruction and widening, storm sewer installation, drainage ditch improvements, culvert reconstruction, and retaining wall installation. The project is slated to begin in June 2026, during which the road will be closed to through traffic.

In Plainfield Township, the Board approved Resolution 26-114, confirming a $958,266.60 contract with Joliet-based P.T. Ferro Construction Co. The firm will resurface Renwick Road (CH 36) from east of U.S. Route 30 to west of Weber Road. The project, which also begins in June, will utilize Hot-Mix Asphalt (HMA) surface removal and replacement, centerline rumble strips, and deck slab repairs. The roadway will remain open during construction with periodic lane closures guided by flaggers. P.T. Ferro also secured a separate $194,014.90 contract (RES 26-115) to resurface various subdivision roadways within the Plainfield Road District.

The Board also took action on Laraway Road in New Lenox. Resolution 26-112 authorizes an agreement with LNS Development Group, LLC for stormwater management improvements along Laraway Road between Cedar Road and Spencer Road. The county will reimburse the developer an estimated $352,071.95 for the construction of a shared detention facility and storm sewer upgrades required for the county’s future plans to widen Laraway to a four-lane, barrier-median roadway.
