Overcoming a mid-game deficit with a clutch late-inning surge, the Lincoln-Way West varsity baseball team secured a hard-fought 5-2 conference victory over host Andrew on Tuesday afternoon.

Trailing 2-1 entering the top of the sixth inning, the Warriors (25-26) flipped the script with timely hitting and aggressive baserunning. Lincoln-Way West pushed across two crucial runs in the sixth to reclaim the lead, then effectively put the game out of reach by adding a pair of insurance runs in the seventh.

The Warriors relied heavily on a potent top of the lineup and constant pressure on the basepaths, tallying five total stolen bases. Michael Pettit provided the defining swing of the game, launching a home run and finishing 2-for-4 with two RBIs, a run scored, and a stolen base. Jackson Mansker consistently generated offensive momentum, going 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

Carson Paulas reached base three times, drawing two walks, lacing a hit, and crossing the plate twice to spark the offense. Quinten Lange also wreaked havoc, going 1-for-2 with a walk, a run scored, and a game-high two stolen bases. Peyton Globke and Jacob Howard each drove in a run for the Warriors, with Howard utilizing a sacrifice fly to manufacture his RBI. Kevin Thatcher contributed as well, entering to swipe a key base.

On the mound, starting pitcher Kellen Schulte delivered a resilient performance to earn the win. Over five innings of work, Schulte struck out seven Andrew batters while yielding just three hits and one earned run. When the Warriors captured the lead late, reliever Emmett Carlson was called upon to slam the door. Carlson was highly effective, tossing two scoreless innings, working around a pair of hits and a walk to earn the save and preserve the 5-2 victory.

With the road win, Lincoln-Way West demonstrated both their offensive persistence and their ability to rely on shutdown relief pitching in tight conference matchups.
