The Lincoln-Way West varsity baseball team broke open a close conference matchup on Wednesday afternoon, utilizing a massive eight-run fifth inning to secure a 12-2 walk-off run-rule victory over visiting Andrew.

After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first inning, the Warriors found their offensive stride in the middle frames. They claimed the lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third and extended the advantage with two more in the fourth. Andrew managed to cut the deficit to 4-2 in the top of the fifth, but Lincoln-Way West answered emphatically in the bottom half. The Warriors sent a relentless wave of hitters to the plate, scoring eight times to cross the 10-run threshold and end the game early.

The Warriors’ offensive attack was defined by consistent hard contact, as the team racked up five doubles among their nine hits. Peyton Globke led the charge, finishing 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored, and two RBIs. Jackson Mansker also delivered a multi-hit performance, going 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored.

Quinten Lange and Owen Weber each ripped doubles while driving in a pair of runs, with Lange also scoring twice and reaching base on a hit-by-pitch. Matt Oberts contributed a double, a hit-by-pitch, and scored two runs, while Jacob Howard chipped in with two RBIs. Michael Pettit continued his steady play at the top of the order, adding a hit, a walk, a run, and an RBI. Kaden Killeen also made his presence felt on the basepaths, crossing the plate twice.

Starting pitcher Adam Redmond earned the victory on the mound, providing four strong innings of work. Redmond struck out seven Andrew batters while allowing two runs on five hits and a pair of walks. Owen Chudzinski slammed the door in relief, tossing a perfect top of the fifth inning with two strikeouts to set the stage for the dramatic walk-off offensive surge.

With the 12-2 triumph, Lincoln-Way West completes a strong two-game conference sweep of Andrew, showcasing both late-game resilience and overwhelming offensive firepower.
