Jackson Township Board Meeting | March 11, 2026

The Jackson Township Board held a brief, 22-minute regular monthly meeting on Wednesday evening to process municipal expenditures, authorize administrative agendas, and review departmental updates. With all elected officials present—including Supervisor Matt Robbins and Trustees Jake Fanning, Norm Fanning, Michele Hallihan, and Coley O’Connell—the board moved quickly through its agenda. Trustees unanimously approved the February meeting minutes, the monthly financial statement, and the official Town Hall Agenda. The board also unanimously authorized the payment of the Road and Bridge Bills and the Town Fund Bills. No property donations were considered, and the county reported no Aid to Bridge Bills for the period. The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. and adjourned at 6:52 p.m.

Data Center Inquiry with Mayor D’Arcy
During the Town Report segment of the meeting, it was briefly noted that Supervisor Matt Robbins has reached out to area Mayor D’Arcy regarding a proposed data center. The minutes did not expand on the nature of the communication, the specific location of the proposed facility, or the municipality Mayor D’Arcy represents, though the contact was officially logged into the township record.

Senior Freeze Event Scheduled for April
Township Assessor LeGrett delivered a report outlining upcoming deadlines and resources for local taxpayers. The Assessor’s office will host a “Senior Freeze” property tax exemption event on April 27 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to assist eligible senior citizens with their filing paperwork. Additionally, LeGrett presented the board with new information regarding Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance requirements for websites operated by local governments.

Highway Department Awaits Spring Projects
Highway Commissioner Walsh provided a brief road report, noting that the winter season has been relatively quiet for the road crews. The department has successfully taken delivery of its new township truck, though Walsh reported they have “not had the opportunity to use it” just yet. The highway department is currently in the process of transitioning its equipment and focus toward summer infrastructure projects.

Local History Scrapbook Donated
During the trustee comments portion of the meeting, Trustee Michele Hallihan presented a unique piece of local history to the township. Hallihan brought in a scrapbook originating from the Coal City Public Library that documents the history of Elwood. She informed the board that she intends to leave the historical scrapbook in the township hall for anyone interested in viewing it.
