Spread the love

The Lincoln-Way West varsity baseball team traveled to Lemont on Saturday for a non-conference matchup, ultimately dropping the contest 10-3 despite a mid-game offensive rally.

Lemont jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after two innings, but the Warriors responded in the top of the third. Lincoln-Way West plated three runs to knot the score, momentarily putting the pressure on the hosts. However, Lemont regained control in the bottom of the third with a single run and broke the game open with a four-run fourth and two more in the fifth to secure the victory.

Quinten Lange paced the Warriors’ offense with a strong 2-for-3 performance at the plate. Michael Pettit, Jackson Mansker, Carson Paulas, and Luke Stoner each added a hit to contribute to the Warriors’ six-hit total on the day. Both Pettit and Mansker also tallied stolen bases as the team looked to manufacture offense throughout the afternoon.

On the mound, Lincoln-Way West utilized a committee approach, with Lincoln Welsh providing a scoreless inning of relief. However, Lemont’s disciplined approach at the plate and ability to capitalize on defensive opportunities kept the momentum in their favor for the remainder of the contest.

The Warriors move to 25-26 on the season. The team will look to reset as they shift their focus back toward their upcoming conference schedule.
