Illinois Quick Hits: $42.6M UIS student library on schedule

(The Center Square) – The Illinois Capital Development Board says a $42.6 million state taxpayer-funded library project is on schedule at the University of Illinois Springfield.

Mechanical, electrical and plumbing work is expected to begin this month at the UIS Library Learning Student Success Center. The CDB said “substantial completion” is anticipated for spring 2027.

IDFPR LAUNCHES FINANCIAL COMPLAINT PORTAL

The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation has launched a new online submission option for Illinois consumers to file complaints against financial institutions.

In 2025, Illinois consumers submitted 244,000 complaints to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, an increase of more than 120,000 from the previous year.

The CFPB said complaints more than doubled nationwide last year to 5.6 million.

FEDERAL LEADERS HOLD LAW ENFORCEMENT SUMMIT IN CHICAGO

Federal law enforcement leaders in the Chicagoland region gathered for a leadership summit at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago headquarters on Monday.

U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois Andrew Boutros said presentations and panel discussions focused on violent crime, national security, narcoterrorism, government fraud, trade fraud and quantum computing.

Senior leaders from more than 40 federal agencies participated, including nine U.S. attorneys and the head of the Department of Justice’s Trade Fraud Task Force.
