Illinois Quick Hits: Group files lawsuit against gun owner ID law

(The Center Square) – A new challenge to Illinois’ requirement for gun owners to have a state police-issued license has been filed in federal court.

The New Civil Liberties Alliance announced the lawsuit Tuesday against Illinois State Police Director Brendan Kelly, Attorney General Kwame Raoul and Cook County State’s Attorney Eileen O’Neill Burke, challenging the constitutionality of the Illinois Firearms Owner’s Identification Card.

STATE ANNOUNCES TAXPAYER FUNDING FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING

The Illinois Housing Development Authority has announced $50 million in state and federal funding to create 142 units of affordable housing.

The taxpayer-funded investments will pair the developments with on-site services for people living with disabilities, experiencing homelessness or at risk of housing instability.

STATE AGENCY OFFERS BREWERY, DISTILLERY & WINERY DIRECTORY

The Illinois Liquor Control Commission is now offering a directory of breweries, brew pubs, distilleries and wineries on its website, www.ilcc.illinois.gov.

The ILCC said it is offering the directory to support and promote those businesses.

PRAYER GATHERING SCHEDULED AT CAPITOL COMPLEX

A prayer gathering titled “One Nation Under God” is scheduled from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Illinois Capitol Complex Visitors Center.

The event is sponsored by state Sen. Chris Balkema, R-Channahon, the Illinois Prayer Caucus Network and the Illinois Family Institute.
