Lawsuit filed over drunk driving deal involving noncitizen
A Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed with Urbana, Illinois, claims the city withheld records related to a January 2025 drunk driving crash that killed two women and injured three other people. Judicial Watch filed suit in Champaign County circuit court on Thursday.
Julio Cucul-Bol, a Guatemalan national who was unlawfully present in the United States, was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the crash that killed Chloe Polzin, 21, and Katie Abraham, 20.
CPS counselor charged with grooming students
A Chicago Public Schools counselor and restorative justice coordinator is accused of grooming two students, sexually assaulting one of them, and soliciting sexually-explicit images.
CWB Chicago reports that Timothy Seals, 35, is the second Gresham School of Excellence worker accused of sexual misconduct involving a student since October. Prosecutors said Seals engaged in sexual encounters with a boy who was 14 or 15 years old at the time and paid the boy through Cash App and Venmo.
Quincy men charged with drug possession
Two Quincy men are facing charges after a narcotics investigation by Illinois State Police. Special agents arrested Jaret Shear, 25, and Israel Gordon, 21, after executing four search warrants at two homes and a business.
ISP said agents found more than 20 pounds of black-market cannabis, more than 80 grams of cocaine, more than 200 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, firearms ammunition and a large amount of U.S. currency.
Supreme Court announced transparency policy
The Illinois Supreme Court has released a new policy of transparency it says will provide more essential information from the judicial branch.
The policy calls for the publication of data from the supreme and appellate courts, various judicial offices, organizational charts and the judicial branch budget.
