Lockport Tops Lincoln-Way West in Tight Conference Battle

Spread the love

The Lincoln-Way West varsity baseball team faced a difficult road test on Friday, falling to Lockport in a competitive 4-2 conference matchup.

The game began with a flurry of activity in the opening inning. Lincoln-Way West jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but Lockport responded immediately in the bottom of the frame, plating three runs to seize a 3-2 advantage. The momentum remained firmly in the home team’s favor as both pitching staffs settled into a rhythm for the remainder of the afternoon. Lockport added an insurance run in the fourth inning to seal the final score.

While the Warriors struggled to generate offense against Lockport starter Austin Winge—who turned in a dominant complete-game performance with 12 strikeouts—the team’s pitching staff kept them within striking distance. Starter Jacob Howard worked three innings, and Owen Chudzinski provided a spark in relief, tossing three scoreless innings of hitless baseball and striking out six.

Jackson Mansker and Peyton Globke recorded the lone hits for the Warriors, with Globke adding an RBI to the effort. Despite the loss, Lincoln-Way West’s defense remained active, working to keep the game tight through the later innings.

The Warriors move to 25-26 on the season. The team will look to bounce back as they continue their conference schedule in the coming week.
